Save the Maudsley Hospital with the Lib Dems demonstration
(Wednesday, January 24, 2007)

Meeting type:Council meeting
Date:Wednesday, January 24, 2007
Time:6.00pm - 7.00pm
Description:

This Wednesday - 24 January - sees what promises to be a large health protest at Southwark Council buildings, and we need as many members as possible to come down to make it a memorable event in the minds of the public.

As many of you will be aware there have been several NHS trusts that have suffered cutbacks recently as belts are tightened across the country as a result of what many see as Labour's mismanagement of the NHS.

Southwark's own Maudsley Hospital has not been immune from these cutbacks - and the Emergency clinic at the hospital is due to be closed in the latest round of cuts. This is a massive blow for Southwark, and an issue on which local Lib Dems have been leading the way.

Wednesday sees the Lib Dem group on Southwark Council attempting to seek all-party support for the Lib Dem position against the decision, and we want to try and get as many of you there as possible to make the Lib Dem view heard to other councillors.

The protest has been organised by Stan Hardy (who can be contacted on 020 8693 4849 for further info), and will be starting at 6PM outside the Town Hall.
