A County Council (Warwickshire) by-election has been called, due to the resignation of the newly-elected Conservative councillor; polling will be 16 July. I am pleased to announce that I have been selected as candidate; thanks to the local and regional parties for your support.

I would like to ask - you've guess it - for your help please. Unfortunately, we have a dwindling team of activists in our local party... but at the same time, we also have some very keen new members. This by-election (in a ward with no strong loyalty to any particular party) could be a good opportunity to raise both our profile and our momentum... if as many people as possible chip in with some help. This help could be canvassing, delivering leaflets, or - if you want something less strenuous - babysitting my cherub, so that I can go canvassing!

Please: if every person I've emailed (plus a spouse, a mate and a neighbour) could spare a couple of hours in Nuneaton, it could be a turning point for our local party and for the Lib Dems' visibility in this part of the county. And if you cannot come in person, please could you spare a couple of quid instead? We might be able to fund telephone canvassing, to fill in the gaps of where our canvassers can get to in person.

If you can come and join in the campaign, let me know how much time you can spare and roughly when, and I'm sure I'll find something suitable for you to do; the literature isn't ready yet, mind you, but as soon as I know when it will be, a campaign schedule will be devised and shared with whoever asks.

One more thing: this isn't just a plea on behalf of myself and the local party... it's also on behalf of those Nuneaton voters who feel that the only way to avoid another Conservative or Labour councillor is to vote BNP. I really want them to see that we can be a viable alternative; which they may not, unless our word is spread around as much of the ward as possible.

Thank you for reading this... I do hope to hear back for you and would be very grateful for any contribution.

Regards,

Alice
