Important by-election news!
Current canvass data has the Lib Dems ahead of the race, but within 2% of Labour. The Greens (who seem to think they can win for some reason) are way behind and don't stand a chance with just a few percent of the vote. The only way we'll beat Labour is to continue identifying as many of our supporters as possible, and getting them out to vote on the day itself.
On Sunday 25th January we are delivering and canvassing all day. Come and join the rest of the team, even if just for an hour or so. You'll be in good company - some local residents were lucky to meet their local council, parliamentary and European candidates this afternoon! Campaign HQ is 2 Albion Road, but call me for more details (number below).
The next big push, aside from more canvassing on Monday and Tuesday, is to deliver our eve-of-poll literature across the ward. Can you help us out? - deliveries will be throughout the day and into the evening.
Then it's our final push on polling day itself. We start from 5am with early morning deliveries. Can you do one before work? Our polling day team will be out on the streets, getting our supporters out to vote for us, with others manning the four polling stations in the ward. Be part of the winning team! - whether you join us for 10 hours or 30 minutes, all additional support is very welcome. Polling day HQ is 66 Kynaston Road, N16 0ED.
The Labour council in Hackney has taken local residents in Stoke Newington completely for granted. They're pushing ahead with plans to 'in-fill' on housing estates. It's the technical term for building on precious green space. Our local council candidate Karelia Scott has led the Lib Dem campaign against them - and it's only the Lib Dems fighting to save the green space - none of the other parties seems to care.
So, if you want to be part of the winning team, then come to Stoke Newington! - you are very welcome.
