The following message went out to all in the London Region:

On 4th December there will be not one but TWO more by-elections on Waltham Forest - making a total of FIVE for them this year!

That's why the Region is making a special request to all of you to help out in the remaining two weeks so that we can retain these two council seats.

One of the seats became vacant after our councillor and local party chair John Beanse passed away. On top of that another sad circumstance - his ward colleague has had to resign for health reasons.

We are fighting to keep these two seats which were won in 2006 from the Tories. This is what local organiser Richard Hoskins describes as a "full frontal" fight as there were only about 200 votes between us last time.

In the recent Valley ward, the team did very well and achieved an 11% swing from the Tories. Despite all the hard work in Valley , the team have already delivered regularly and canvassed half of Hale End and Highams Park.

We MUST keep up our activity levels to keep these two seats and to give some support to a very overworked and stretched local team. With your help they can do it - which is a result that all Lib Dems in London will be able to enjoy.

Please contact Richard or Henry and offer your help as soon as you can and as often as you can.

We in Waltham Forest are already campaigning in our 4th and 5th bye-elections this year! Hale End and Highams Park Ward will have a double poll on Thursday 4th December.

These are two seats captured from the Tories in 2006; they were won by the late John Beanse and by Noel Penstone who?s resigned due to ill health.

We must retain these seats - and we need your help please!

HQ open: Weekdays from 6.30pm
Saturday from 10am to 1pm for Focus delivery
Sundays from 2pm

If you can help at other times, please give us a ring and we will arrange to be open.

Thanks
Nick Bason & Jane Morgan
