DESCRIPTION:At 6pm on Monday 20 January 2014\,&nbsp\;Conservative Cabinet m
 embers&nbsp\;on Hammersmith &amp\; Fulham Council will sit down to decide 
 whether to close a primary school.
\nSulivan Primary School is rated Good 
 with Outstanding features by OFSTED. Its KS2 results last year were in the
  top 250 in England for value added and for supporting the most disadvanta
 ged pupils. The Mayor of London&nbsp\;recently awarded it membership of hi
 s Gold Club of top-performing schools.
\nA few years ago\,&nbsp\;Sulivan w
 as struggling but thanks to the pupil premium and the hard work of its tea
 chers and staff it goes from strength to strength. Its reception class is 
 full and it has a waiting list for its oversubscribed nursery.
\nSulivan S
 chool&nbsp\;has applied to become an academy with support from the London 
 Diocesan Board\, and the overwhelming majority of parents and the local co
 mmunity.&nbsp\;The Tories say they support academies\, but the Department 
 for Education&nbsp\;has put its application&nbsp\;on hold at the request o
 f the Council so that it can close it down instead.
\nSo why do the Tories
  want to close it? Because it occupies a valuable plot of land which is th
 e preferred site of a new selective CofE secondary free school which is ba
 cked by leading Conservative politicians.
