He also engages in charitable work. Despite his anti-war stance Paul was appointed Political Adviser to Coalition forc es (SAO) in Iraq in 2003\, appointing the first post-war regional governme nt there. In 2008 Paul worked as adviser in Afghanistan with UK forces\, t he British Ambassador and DfID. Paul has worked in other conflict zones in cluding Haiti\, Sri Lanka\, Rwanda\, Sierra Leone\, East Timor.
