Now that Gordon has stopped dithering and bottled on the autumn election we can continue with our programme and in particular our European Evening. The party has started the process of selecting candidates for the 2009 European list.  In the East Midlands there will 5 MEPs and we therefore need a list of 5 candidates to put before the electorate.  Seven candidates, Marc Godwin, Denise Hawksworth, Veena Hudson, Ed Maxfield, Bill Newton Dunn, Deborah Newton Cook and David Perkins have been selected and invited to our European Evening.  This is an excellent chance to meet the candidates before you cast your vote.

Bill Newton Dunn MEP was sixth in the 2004 Election so we will have to work extra hard to ensure that a Liberal Democrat is elected for the East Midlands in 2009 when there will only be 5 seats. This will also require loads of money so we will be running an Auction of Promises in aid of the European Election Fund after the dinner. Please send any offers for auction to Shirley Holt.
