(Sunday, July 19, 2015)

Meeting type:Social event
Date:Sunday, July 19, 2015
Time:2.00pm - 5.00pm
Description:

We are delighted to announce that Tony Harms has agreed to host our next garden party and that Lynne Featherstone and Evan Harris have agreed to be our speakers for this special event.

Lynne Featherstone was the MP for Hornsey and Wood Green from 2005 - 2015 and will go down in history as the minister responsible for implementing gay marriage. She also did some excellent work on tackling Female Genital Mutulation in the UK and around the world. Recently she has been the campaign manager for Norman Lamb's bid to be the next leader of the party.

Evan Harris was the MP for Oxford West and Abingdon from 1997 to 2010. A former GP he was a Lib Dem spokesman on Higher Education and Health. More recently he has been involved in the Hacked Off campaign to regulate the newspaper industry after the phone hacking scandal, and he writes a science blog in the Guardian. Evan is a strong supporter for Tim Farron in the leadership contest. Evan is always good value as a thought provoking speaker with a wicked sense of humour.

Hackney Liberal Democrats has over a 100 new members who have joined in the past 3 months so we are looking forward to a good turnout of old and new - plus bring your friends along as well!

Entry costs £12, or £6 low income. This will pay for food available on the day including vegetarian options.

The venue at 60 Lordship Park, Stoke Newington, N16 5UA is on the 106 bus route between Finsbury Park and Stoke Newington. Other busess that go nearby are the 141 from Old Street/Manor House and 341 from Angel/Manor House.
