SUMMARY:LIBG forum on Kurdistan
DESCRIPTION:Liberal International British Group forum on Kurdistan
\n&nbsp\
 ;
\nKurdistan is likened to the largest nation without a state. 2013 marks
  an unusual coincidence of anniversaries: the 10th&nbsp\;anniversary of th
 e intervention in Iraq\, the 25th&nbsp\;anniversary of the Anfal and the k
 illing of 5\,000 innocent civilians by chemical weapons in Halabja\, and t
 he 30th&nbsp\;anniversary of the killing of the Barzanis. It is estimated
 that 182\,000 innocent civilians were killed\, thousand of villages were d
 estroyed\, and hundreds of thousands of Kurds were displaced. Securing int
 ernational recognition of the Kurdish genocide is important for many reaso
 ns including facilitating justice\, but also to help prevent future atroci
 ties\, not only in Iraqi Kurdistan but also further afield.
\n&nbsp\;
\n&n
 bsp\;
\nSpeakers:
\n&nbsp\;
\nRepresentative of the Kurdistan Regional Gov
 ernment in the UK
\nJonathan Fryer\, writer and broadcaster on the Middle
 East and former chair of LIBG.
\n&nbsp\;
\n&nbsp\;
\n&nbsp\;A cash bar wil
 l be available.
\n&nbsp\;
\nAttendance is free but please advise in advanc
