UPDATE: Vince Cable Talk
(Monday, October 27, 2008)
| Meeting type: | Private meeting |
| Date: | Monday, October 27, 2008 |
| Time: | 8.45pm - 10.30pm |
| Description: | Vince Cable is the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, beheld by many within the party as a demi-God and described at the last conference as a “twinkle-toed economic prophet”.
PLEASE CALL IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND THIS MEETING AS THERE IS LIMITED SPACE!!! Elected to Parliament in 1997, Vince Cable MP quickly became Shadow Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. He followed this by becoming Shadow Chancellor in 2003 and Deputy Leader in 2006. As Acting Party Leader during the recent leadership election, Vince won accolades from the media for his comments following continued government failings, combining insight from years of experience with a sharp and witty speaking style. He held the disregard for basic human rights shown by the government and its allies to account, winning widespread praise by boycotting the welcome of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah.
Returning to his post of Shadow Chancellor and Deputy Leader following Nick Clegg’s election as Party Leader, Vince has continued to pursue the Government’s sloppy mismanagement of the economy and was recently described by the Telegraph as “The Government's most trenchant economic critic”. |
